Pvt. Benton Kinkead Burial Service

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War in partnership with the American Legion and the VFW will honor Pvt. Benton Kinkead’s service in the Civil War and perform the military burial ceremony at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth on October 30, 2021 at 12:00pm. Kinkead’s burial will mark him as the Last Union Civil War Veteran buried in Cass county, Nebraska.

The 1st Nebraska Volunteer Brass Band, dressed in civil war era uniforms will play period music and members of the Plattsmouth High School Choir will sing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”

Kinkead was a private in the 77th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and served in the Civil War from 1861 through 1864.
