Last Soldier of Dixon Co. Ceremony

The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Department of Nebraska, Harrison Camp 53-2 will conduct a ceremony honoring Jeremiah Sullivan, the Last Union Civil War Soldier buried in Dixon County, Nebraska. The ceremony will be held at Saint Anne’s Cemetery at Dixon.
Jeremiah (Jerry) Sullivan was a Private in Co. I, 47th Ohio Infantry and died April 20, 1938 at the age of 98.
Directions: St. Anne’s Cemetery is located east of Dixon on 8685 Rd (3rd St) at the corner of 578 Ave.
The Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, Dept. of Nebraska have started the final phase in our Last Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska. We are marking the graves of these veterans with a bronze star marker and QR code medallion. The full list of veterans can be viewed here.
