Patriotic Parade & Concert
May 26, 2023 @ 9:00 AM - May 27, 2023 @ 5:00 PM
The Patriotic Parade honors our Nation’s Military, First Responders and Gold Star Families, while inspiring love of country in Americans of all ages.
2023 will include the “RISE ABOVE” Traveling Tuskegee Exhibit at 11th & Douglas in downtown Omaha, with free admission from 9am-5pm on Friday & Saturday, May 26 & 27.
Parade highlights include USMC’s Marching Band and Fort Riley’s Mounted Color Guard, The Parade begins at 10th & Jackson, making its way north via The Old Market to the Gene Leahy Mall.
This year, the black riderless horse returns to lead Gold Star families, followed by the Purple Heart balloon and Tomb of the Unknown replica. The nation’s largest Thin Blue Line flag will be carried by police, a tiny horse will be walking (or maybe carried), and the Jenson Shires return, along with the corvettes and motorcycles.
Historical segments with children & adults in uniform, accompanied by vehicles of each era, will remind us all of our nation’s history from its birth through the pain of wars.
The (free) Concert at the Gene Leahy Mall immediately follows the Parade & includes Gold Star Family Members speaking their Fallen Loved One’s name during Roll Call. The USMC Marching Band will also perform at the concert, among others.
