Last Union Soldier Project – Nebraska
Beginning in 2003, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) embarked on the Last Union Soldier Project. The purpose of the project is to locate and appropriately mark the final resting place of the last Union Civil War Soldier buried in each county and in each state of this great country.
The Department of Nebraska has identified the Last Union Soldier buried in each county in the state of Nebraska and is in the process of marking the graves with a bronze star marker, QR code medallion and honoring with a ceremony when appropriate. As of March 2024, we have completed 48 of the 93 counties in Nebraska. We are planning on placing markers in North and South Dakota as well. If you wish to donate to this project, please contact us.
